WWE bring another stadium show to the Mohammed Abdu Arena in Saudi Arabia as they host Super Showdown. The main event will definitely be a match to look out for as the WWE Universal Championship will be on the line when “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt defends his title against WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg.

The match was set up during an episode of Smackdown, when Goldberg was doing an interview via satellite, before he was interrupted by Wyatt in his Firefly Funhouse persona. Goldberg had been discussing his plans to get back in the ring once again and since longtime rival Brock Lesnar had his hands full dealing with Ricochet and Drew McIntyre, he would instead be turning his attention to the Universal Championship, which he held in 2017.

Goldberg last wrestled against Dolph Ziggler this past August at WWE SummerSlam, which took place in Toronto. The match did not last very long and saw the former Universal Champion get the win following his signature spear and jackhammer.

That night was memorable because it also featured the in-ring debut of Bray Wyatt’s new Fiend character. Fans were immediately invested in this new version of Wyatt and his popularity eventually culminating with championship opportunities against then-champion Seth Rollins. After coming up short at Hell in a Cell, Wyatt would capture the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel, which also took place in Saudi Arabia.

With the way Goldberg has been brought back, the match with Wyatt may not be just a one-time thing. Instead, Goldberg could realistically capture the Universal Championship at Super Showdown as a way to take the title off The Fiend and hold the title until WrestleMania, where he would likely lose the title to Roman Reigns.

Having Goldberg become the new champion heading into WrestleMania would provide WWE with both another marque name and match that they could use to attract a larger audience for their biggest event of the year however on the other hand, Wyatt would need to look as strong as possible if he were to lose the title so it wouldn’t affect the momentum he has built since changing up his character.

Will Goldberg become the new WWE Universal Champion? Or will The Fiend add another legend to the wall in the Firefly Funhouse? Tune in to WWE Super Showdown this Thursday, 12pm EST on the WWE Network to find out.
