The biggest party of the summer takes place tonight as WWE will host SummerSlam from the Anway Center in Orlando, Florida. This will be the first event with fans through a virtual experience in WWE’s ThuderDome.

There are some intriguing matches taking place at this year’s event and there will be surely be plenty of surprises in store for one of the company’s biggest events of the year.

Here is what fans should keep an eye on for tonight’s SummerSlam:

Drew McIntyre (c) vs Randy Orton – WWE Championship

Randy Orton has been on a roll in 2020 and many believe that he has been Superstar of the Year. Since going back to his Legend Killer persona, Orton has been doing arguably the best work of his career both in his promos and match quality.

Orton has been more of a menacing villain in the buildup to this title match and at the same time, getting fans invested in the storyline.

Drew McIntyre has had a career year in his own right – he won the 2020 Royal Rumble match and defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania to become the WWE Champion. McIntyre’s hard work has clearly paid off and a lot of fans believe his match with Orton could potentially be Match of the Night.

Something to look out for in this match is whether Ric Flair or Brock Lesnar get involved at some point.

Flair was taken out by Orton a few weeks ago however, that may potentially be a tactic to swerve McIntyre. Flair did not get the nickname of ‘Dirtiest Player in the Game’ for no reason and there might have been a plan to have him help Orton capture the title. After all, he did say he wanted Orton to become a 17-time World Champion and break his record instead of John Cena, who is tied with 16 World Championship reigns.

Lesnar has not been seen on WWE programming since his loss to McIntyre at WrestleMania and could choose a big event like SummerSlam to make his return. There are many scenarios for Lesnar as he could either cost McIntyre the title or he could even appear after the match to attack the winner and make a statement.

Seth Rollins vs Dominik Mysterio

15-years almost to the day of being part of the memorable Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio storyline at SummerSlam, Dominik Mysterio will make his WWE in-ring debut at the same event.

After months of being involved in a feud between Seth Rollins, Dominik will finally get to settle the score in a Street Fight at tonight’s event.

It is also important to note that unlike past second and third generation superstars like The Rock, Randy Orton, Charlotte Flair, and Bray Wyatt to name a few, Dominik did not have go through the indy circuit or NXT before making his in-ring debut, which makes this match much more intriguing because fans may be in for a surprise of just how good Dominik is.
