It has been a rough few days for WWE as the company announced they had released multiple superstars, producers, and staff due to budget cuts. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many leagues and businesses being forced to release several employees to deal with the financial hit they have taken.

Many of the names announced came as a shock to fans as they had been appearing regularly on WWE programming - even on shows broadcasted from the WWE Performance Center. Currently with the pandemic, this is a tough time for many to be released as it doesn’t allow them to pursue bookings on the independent wrestling scene until it is safe to do so.

Wrestlers released: Rusev, Zack Ryder, EC3, Curt Hawkins, Erik Rowan, Drake Maverick , Lio Rush, Deonna Purrazzo, No Way Jose, Sarah Logan, Maria Kanellis, Mike Kanellis, Eric Young, MJ Jenkins, Aleksander Jaksic, Aiden English, Primo Colon, Epico, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson.

Producers/coaches released: Kurt Angle, Sereena Deeb, Pat Buck, Daivari, Lance Storm, Kendo Kashin, Ace Steel, Mike Rotunda, Shane Helms, Scott Armstrong, Sarah Stock, and Fit Finlay.

Hopefully the releases will turn into a positive for each of their respective careers. In the current pro wrestling climate, there are plenty of options out there and some of these companies may utilize these wrestlers and producers a lot better than WWE did. For some, one of these wrestlers could be their ideal performer and one they’ve coveted for a long time but were unable to bring them into the fold due to their contract with WWE.
