Just one week after WWE held one of their biggest PPV events of the year: SummerSlam, the company is back at it as they host WWE Payback live from the ThunderDome at the Anway Center in Orlando, Florida.

The main event will surely be one to keep an eye on especially after the events that took place on Friday Night SmackDown. New WWE Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will be defending his title for the first time in a triple threat match against former champion Braun Strowman and the returning Roman Reigns.

After losing the Universal Championship to Goldberg at Crown Jewel, The Fiend finally got another opportunity at SummerSlam, where he defeated Strowman in a grueling matchup to become the new champion.

The Fiend did not have time to really celebrate as Reigns made quite the impact when he made his return. Immediately following the main event, Reigns came out of nowhere and attacked both Strowman and new Universal Champion The Fiend and made a statement that he was coming for the title he never lost.

On SmackDown, Reigns brought out a different side of himself and closed the show with Paul Heyman and insinuates that he will now be aligned with him as the new “Heyman Guy.” This is interesting because Heyman is the advocate for Brock Lesnar and the story could potentially lead to Reigns and Lesnar being aligned with Heyman, which would make them the most dominant duo in the company.

Another interesting scenario that fans could see at tonight’s event is Reigns walking out as the Universal Champion and revealed as the leader of Retribution, who have yet to identify who they are.

Reigns becoming the new Universal Champion is a likely outcome considering that WWE have essentially turned him into a heel and made changes to his character, but it is also possible that Strowman ends up taking the loss once again and The Fiend retaining.

Who do you think will leave WWE Payback as the Universal Champion? Will there be any other surprises in store?
