Toronto, ON----WWE kick-off SummerSlam weekend in Toronto tonight with NXT TakeOver, live from Scotiabank Arena. The event is stacked with exciting matchups and intriguing storylines, but the match that will likely steal the show and set the bar for the main roster the following night, is the main event for the NXT Championship between the champion Adam Cole and challenger Johnny Gargano and will be contested in a two-out of-three falls match.

Cole and Gargano have put on the incredible matches this year, which coincidentally began with a two-out of-three falls match at NXT TakeOver: New York, the night before WrestleMania, which saw Gargano win the vacant NXT Championship. The two then competed in a 32-minute wrestling clinic at NXT TakeOver XXV, where Cole became the NXT Champion, and now the two bring their rivalry north of the border to find out who is the best in NXT.

This two-out of-three falls match will be much different than the match they had at NXT TakeOver: New York in that they will have three falls contested under different stipulations. Johnny Gargano chose a street fight as a stipulation and the champion Adam Cole chose a regular singles match.

What makes this match a lot more intriguing is that in the event that the match is tied after two falls, NXT General Manager William Regal will decide the stipulation of the third fall. With Regal deciding the stipulation for the third fall, it may provide some insight into the direction of NXT’s programming heading into the fourth quarter of the year depending on who walks out of Toronto as the champion and on how much of an impact the stipulation has on the outcome.

I think that a possible outcome tonight could see Adam Cole win the two-out of-three falls match to retain the NXT Championship, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish winning the NXT Tag Team Championships, but Roderick Strong will come up short and fail to capture the NXT North American Championship causing Cole to turn on him and kick him out of The Undisputed Era.

If The Undisputed Era turn on Roderick Strong, NXT could have their next NXT Championship program kick-off immediately with Cole and Strong, which had been teased earlier this year. Regardless of the outcome, NXT TakeOver: Toronto will definitely be an enjoyable show for fans to kick off WWE’s first of four shows at Scotiabank Arena.
