One night before Raw, SmackDown, and NXT battle for brand supremacy, NXT superstars will be battling it out in the grueling WarGames matchups. NXT TakeOver takes place tonight and there is plenty of buzz surrounding the event especially following their invasion of both Raw and SmackDown in the past few weeks.

Although the event has only four matches confirmed and one match taking place on the pre-show, it’s likely that another impromptu match is added to the show in between the War Games matches. There have been plenty of exciting storylines leading into the event and the outcomes will surely lead to some exciting programming on NXT.

Former NXT Champion Finn Balor will be competing in his first match since returning to NXT and he will have his hands full as he’ll be taking on ‘The King of the Bros” Matt Riddle. Since Balor made his shocking return, he has adopted a new persona that reflects the one he had in NJPW, which is a great sign because he’s been able to show the WWE universe a different side of him and will look to capitalize on his latest opportunity by defeating one of NXT’s top stars.

The triple threat match between Pete Dunne, Damian Priest and Killian Dane will have major implications as the winner of the match will receive a shot at the NXT Championship tomorrow night at Survivor Series. This is a great idea by NXT because it allows NXT to gain more exposure aside from the traditional Survivor Series tag team matches.

Former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne is the favorite to win the triple threat and challenge Adam Cole, which should make for an exciting match at Survivor Series while also attracting more interest in NXT’s brand.

NXT TakeOver will also be featuring two WarGames matches. When it’s all said and done, it looks like Rhea Ripley could be the face of the NXT women’s division after this weekend. The 23-year old already kicked off the weekend on a high note as she defeated former Women’s champions Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match on Smackdown last night.

Ripley has been a focal point on NXT programming the past few weeks and looks like a lock to eventually dethrone NXT Women’s champion Shayna Baszler.

The men’s WarGames match is just as intriguing as The Undisputed Era will look to continue their dominance in NXT when they take on Team Ciampa; Tommaso Ciampa (captain), Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, and a mystery partner.

The Undisputed Era winning is a safe bet considering that they've been dominant in NXT and currently hold all the titles; NXT Championship, NXT North American Championship, and NXT Tag Team Championships.  It’ll be interesting to see whether it’s a current NXT superstar or current Raw or SmackDown superstar making to NXT and joins Team Ciampa.

If last year’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames is any indicator, tonight should be a very entertaining event.
