All Elite Wrestling returns to PPV tonight as they host Full Gear live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, and is already looking like the company closes out their 2020 PPV schedule with arguably their strongest match card.

There are plenty of matches on the card that are intriguing and could provide a better idea of the company’s direction going into 2021. Jon Moxley will once again defend his AEW World Championship – this time against Eddie Kingston in an “I Quit” match, FTR and The Young Bucks will finally square off for the AEW Tag Team Championships, MJF will look to join the Inner Circle when he takes on Chris Jericho for the first time, Cody Rhodes defending his TNT Championship against Darby Allin, and lastly, the match that could steal the show,  ‘Hangman’ Page taking on Kenny Omega for a chance to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

Jon Moxley has had a lengthy reign as AEW World Champion, which brings up the question as to how much longer will AEW keep the title on him? Moxley having a lengthy reign has allowed him to work with some of the company’s rising stars in meaningful programs, which essentially elevates all his opponents. This has been the case with Kingston, who has been impressive since making his AEW debut especially with his promos. Kingston’s promo skills were put on full display this past week on AEW: Dynamite, which added more anticipation for this main event.

Wrestling fans will finally get to see FTR and The Young Bucks go at it for the AEW Tag Team Championships. FTR has been getting the upper hand as of late since aligning with Tully Blanchard, so it would come as a surprise if he does not play a role in FTR retaining. This match will likely be the first of many, but tonight could be an indicator of the quality AEW fans could expect to see in the next few months.

It is likely that FTR retain, but it will be interesting to see whether there are plans for The Elite, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, to be heels or if FTR, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard recruit ‘Hangman’ Page to lead their faction as heels.

AEW’s other singles title, TNT Championship, will also be on the line when Cody takes on Darby Allin. Over the past few weeks, there have been many vignettes that have reintroduced Allin to the AEW fanbase as well more perspective on the backstory of his character. There has been some speculation online that WWE Hall of Famer Sting could be making an appearance at Full Gear and based on Allin watching Cody’s match from afar in the upper bowl seating, it could be telling that Sting could be brought in to be in Allin's corner because their similar character traits. It would also make sense because of the history Sting and Arn Anderson have with one another dating back to their WCW days, when Sting feuded with ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair and The Four Horsemen.

The match that is most likely to steal the show is the long-awaited encounter between former AEW Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega and ‘Hangman’ Page. Throughout their title reign, there were always brief moments where it looked like Page would be turning Omega, which added to the storytelling of their matches as fans would always have and eye on the interaction between the two and wondering if that would be the night they go their separate ways.

AEW decided to throw a curve ball and have Omega be the one to turn on his partner instead. After losing their titles at All Out, Omega left Page in the ring and stormed out the arena with The Young Bucks, before making his return to Dynamite with a new entrance and ‘The Cleaner’ persona, which fans have been wanting to see since he joined AEW as a free agent.

Omega vs. Page has all the makings of a classic matchup and one Omega should win in order to build more momentum and have Page continue to chase for the World Championship, making it more of a significant moment when he eventually wins it, perhaps from Omega.

Which match are you looking forward to most? Do you think there will be anymore surprise appearances?
