In the American League wild-card game, the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Oakland A’s and advance to take on the top-seeded Houston Astros in the American League Division Series. The best-of-five Division Series begins on October 3rd with the National League (Cardinals at Braves and Nationals at Dodgers) followed by the American League (Rays at Astros and Twins at Yankees) on October 4th.
Six months ago, Lonzo Ball (New Orleans Pelicans) sued his former Big Baller Brand (BBB) business partner, Alan Foster, for $2 million. The tables are now turned and Foster is countersuing Lonzo and his father LaVar for “fraudulent concealment and breach of contract”. According to the filing, LaVar embezzled more than $2.5 million. Foster claims, "LaVar approached Alan and asked for his business guidance on how to monopolize and gain fortune and fame from the names and likenesses of his three sons. In response, Alan suggested that the two men brand the 'Ball' family name in order to create basketball and entertainment-related businesses. LaVar loved Alan’s idea and wanted to make sure that he was the biggest star in the family, notwithstanding the fact that he was broke, had no savings, poor credit and zero business acumen."
