Alabama suffered a major upset on Saturday losing to rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Alabama coach Nick Saban criticized the officiating during the 48-45 loss, referencing the 1 second placed on the clock before halftime (allowing Auburn to kick a field goal) and the penalty for too many players on the field in the final seconds of the game. With the loss, the Crimson Tide slide out of playoff contention.

Just days after Ole Miss lost the Egg Bowl due to an embarrassing touchdown celebration, the athletic director fired coach Matt Luke. Luke had been with the team for three seasons.

In the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens' win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday put the Ravens at the top of the AFC rankings (slightly edging out the New England Patriots who lost 28-22 to the Houston Texans).  Ravens 20, 49ers 17.

In other NFL news, the Cincinnati Bengals finally won a game this season with their victory over the New York Jets. Bengals 22, Jets 6
