MISSISSAUGA, ON – Nobody goes home!

In a shocking twist, Head Judge Kurt Browning voted to keep both pairs in the Week 4 Skate-Off and no one was eliminated. Browning was the deciding vote after Colby Armstrong and guest judge Sarah Nurse of the Canadian Women’s Olympic hockey team gave out identical scores to both PJ Stock & Violetta Afanasieva and Bruno Gervais & Ekaterina Gordeeva.

It’s the first tie in the show’s history.

The voters failed Gervais and Gordeeva once again and they found themselves in the bottom two for the second week in a row, falling from 1st in Week Three. They capped off the show’s routines with a sultry and technically challenging dance to The Legend of Zorro.

Meanwhile, Stock and Afanasieva threw down ‘Dirty Dancing’ style with their spirited and playful dance to ‘Do You Love Me’ by The Contours.

Scores were not given out at the end of each routine. Instead, each pair skated before both couples were brought back out to hear the final scores, to increase the drama of course.

Here they are.

PJ Stock & Violetta Afanasieva

Armstrong: 5.8

Nurse: 5.7

Browning: 5.7

Total: 17.2

Bruno Gervais & Ekaterina Gordeeva

Armstrong: 5.7

Nurse: 5.8

Browning: 5.7

Total: 17.2

The tie wasn’t the only ‘first’ of the evening. Sheldon Kennedy and Kaitlyn Weaver were handed the first perfect score of the season for their romantic and heart-warming performance to Nat King Cole’s ‘Smile’ to kick off the evening. Some of it was even filmed in black and white to set the mood.

Prior to the show, Kennedy filmed a quick video about International Mental Health Day and how important it is to help everyone smile, which was at the heart of their performance.

Natalie Spooner and Andrew Poje were next, and they brought the electricity once again with an invigorating, high-octane performance to ‘Juicy Wiggle’ that had the audience clapping along. It was so good, Browning said to Spooner, “… If Andrew couldn’t make it, you could do a solo piece and carry it.” Just not good enough for a perfect score.

Wrapping up those that were safe was Colton Orr and Amanda Evora. Their bombastic performance to Imagine Dragons’ ‘Believer’ got the crowd cheering when Orr spun Evora like a windmill in the air to kick off their routine.

The 'Stages and Screens' theme of the night definitely did not disappoint.

It would seem the judges are trying to send a message to voters that neither PJ Stock nor Bruno Gervais deserve to be in the bottom two, so make sure you vote every day until Tuesday at 12:00PM ET and keep them and your favourtie skaters safe!
