Even though UFC 244 came and went, it looks like the Masvidal-Diaz rivalry is far from over. Jorge Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz by doctor's stoppage in the main event to capture the BMF title and following the decision and press conference, it seems as though Nate's older brother, Nick, wants to make a return to the octagon and is targeting a bout with Masvidal.

It's interesting to see how much can change in just 8-months; the UFC were in the process of setting up a bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nick Diaz back in March however, the promotion were unable to come to terms with Diaz and the planned bout was ultimately scrapped. Since then, Masvidal had climbed up the welterweight rankings and has become a marketable star for the UFC.

Masvidal started it off in March by knocking out former title challenger Darren Till in his home country. The win was somewhat of a surprise because Till was six months removed from his loss to then-Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and the fight with Masvidal was viewed as being a great way for Till to get back in title contention against a tough opponent.

Masvidal then continued his momentum during the UFC's annual International Fight Week event, where he defeated the undefeated Ben Askren with a vicious flying knee in 5-seconds, which was the fastest knockout in UFC history.

Masvidal's win caught the attention of Nate Diaz, who returned after a three-year hiatus and defeated former UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in a welterweight bout. Following his win, Diaz challenged Masvidal and the rest was history; the two met in the main event of UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden, which ended with Masvidal getting the win by doctor's stoppage due to a cut around Diaz's eye.

The post-fight media interviews and fight itself seemed to have angered Nick Diaz, who has since gone on Ariel Helwani's MMA show and made it known that he intends to make a return to the UFC for a fight with Masvidal. The 36-year old last fought in at UFC 183, which saw him move up to middleweight to take on former champion Anderson Silva. The fight was originally a unanimous decision win for Silva however, the result was later change to a no-contest after both fighters tested positive for banned substances.

A potential Jorge Masvidal vs Nick Diaz fight could be an intriguing considering that Nick is still a big name in the sport and a legitimate welterweight fighter as opposed to his brother Nate, who is a much better fighter at lightweight.

The UFC already have quite the lineup of main events to start 2020 including: Conor McGregor's return, Jon Jones defending his Light-Heavyweight championship against Dominik Reyes, Israel Adesanya defending his Middleweight championship against Yoel Romero, the highly anticipated Lightweight championship bout between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, and they could add another marque bout with Jorge Masvidal vs Nick Diaz.

So fans, do you think Jorge Masvidal vs Nick Diaz takes place? And who do you believe wins that fight?
