Scott Dominey got his first career NLL goal and the Toronto Rock snapped a two-game losing skid with a 15-13 over the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday evening.

Kieran McArdle, who hadn’t scored in his last three games, had two goals on the night. Rob Hellyer and Johnny Powless also had two apiece.  Tom Schreiber had a goal and five assists while goalie Nick Rose made 33 saves in the win.

The Knighthawks drew first blood and managed to gain a 3-1 lead in the first quarter even with solid defensive play by the Rock, but Toronto was able to come back and gain a 5-4 lead by the end of the first.

In the second, McArdle got his first goal in three games just over a minute into the second quarter, and the Rock were able to keep the momentum, even with a comeback bid from Rochester. Dominey scored his first NLL goal to make it 7-5 for Toronto at 5:24. Toronto’s lead kept growing and found themselves up by two at the half by a score of 10-8.

TheRock’s defense proved solid through the third quarter and the remainder of the game, but again the Knighthawks tried for the comeback.  Down 14-12 Colton Armstrong was in all alone and thought he scored to cut the deficit to one, but upon review, his shoe was in the crease and it didn’t count.  They did, however, strike again, to make it 14-13, but Damon Edwards, who was chased by the Knighthawks goalie after being pulled in the last minute, made it 15-13for the home team.
