John Tavares scored two goals as the Leafs came out iwth a 4-2 road in in New Jersey on Thursday Night. 

 

With the two goals, Tavares hit the 300 goal mark in his caeer, while Zach Hyman returned to the lineup after being out with an injury.  

 

The Leafs stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first, with Ron Hainsey scoring for Toronto, while backup Michael Hutchinson made 27 saves in the win.  

 

The Devils tried to get back into it, with goals from Blake Coleman and Brian Boyle 26 seconds apart, but it wansn;t enough.  

Hainey got the Leafs on the board with a shot form the point at 4:30 to make it 1-0.  THis was his first goal since November 23. Tavares made it 2-0 less than three minutes later netting a rebound off Jake Gardiner and past Kinkaid. He then made it 3-0 after Morgan Rielly found him with a cross-ice pass for a shot into a wide open net. 

Coleman goe the Devils into the game when he put his own rebound past Hutchinson, while Boyle socred off a shot that may have been deflected by Gardner. 

Mitch Marner was there to make it 4-2 with barely anytime left on the clock for the win.
