Apparently, the Leafs scored all their goals on Saturday against the Canucks, and ran out.

Pekka Rinne made 18 saves for his third shutout of the year, and 54th of his career, as the Nashville Predators feasted on the Leafs beating them 4-0 in Toronto.

Mattias Ekholm, Kevin Fiala, Colton Sissons and P.K Subban all scored for the Preds.

The Leafs, who have found themselves in some goaltending trouble had Michael Hutchinson between the pipes tonight.  He stopped 28 shots for Toronto, who have lost three of their last four after a five game win streak. The Leafs also hit the post three times and thought they had scored a goal, but was called back after review.

The first period saw no action in terms of goals, but that all changed at 4:08 of the second period when Ekholm’s shot from the point made it through traffic and behind Hutchinson to make it 1-0.  This was his fifth goal of the year, and has 29 points in 43 games.

43 seconds later it was Toronto’s turn to answer back when Auston Matthews tipped it in, but the goal was called back after the Preds challenged that William Nylander was just ahead of the play.

It was all Preds from there, Subban notched his fourth goal of the year at 13:11 after his one-timer deflected off of Nylander’s stick and in to make it 2-0.

Sissons scored at 2:37 of the third for his eight of the year to make it 3-0.   Fiala added his eight with 37.3 left in regulation for the 4-0 win.
