The Montreal Canadiens took a 3-0 lead in the first period.

And that was that.

The Leafs scored six unanswered goals and ended their longest losing streak of the season with a 6-3 against the Habs on Saturday night.

Zach Hyman scored two goals in the last minute of regulation, while William Nylander and Auston Matthews each had a goal and an assist.  Frederik Andersen stopped 32 shots. Hyman and Andreas Johnsson both scored back to back empty netters.

Andrew Shaw and Jeff Petry each had a goal and assists for the Habs while Carey Price stopped 31 shots for Montreal who saw their three-game winning streak end.

Hyman’s empty netter came off a rebound from Mitch Marner to make it 5-3, while Johnsson added his empty-net goal with 57.5 seconds left for his 17th of the year.

Shaw opened the scoring at 8:07 and the Canadiens took a 2-0 lead at 12:44 with a turnover by the Leafs when Tomas Tatar scored his 21st short side.

The Leafs closed in on a 3-0 deficit to within a goal during the second and tired it up at 6:58 of the third by Nylander who fired one past Price into the open net.
