Anthony Duclair posted two goals and an assist to lead the last place Senators over the Maple Leafs.

Garret Sparks allowed three goals on 21 shots. The Leafs had a clear 44-21 advantage in that department despite the loss.

Ottawa erupted for two goals in the second period and maintained a 2-0 lead through the intermission. Duclair and Magnus Pajaarvi each scored, respectively, to take a commanding lead after an uneventful first period.

The Leafs bounced back in the third period and record back-to-back goals in a span of 0:27. Auston Matthews and Connor Brown scored consecutively to even the score at 2-apiece.

Auston Matthews scored his 37th goal of the season, inching closer to the 40-mark he achieved in his 2016-17 rookie season. Brown’s goal was his second in the last two games.

Ottawa countered 0:12 after Brown scored a bar-down goal and retook the lead by a score of 3-2. Cody Ceci notched his seventh goal of the season, drawing assists from Brady Tkachuk and Colin White.

Duclair sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, his second of the night. Ottawa went on to win by a score of 4-2.
