Tampa Bay Goes up 2-0 In Series

Matt Martin with an assist from Nick Leddy scored early in the first period for the Islanders, but it wasn’t enough as a blast from Victor Hedman, who has scored his 4th goal in his last 4 games, made it 1-1 after 1 period of play.
A high hit to the head by Alex Killorn on Brock Nelson, who ended up getting a game misconduct, gave The Islanders a 5 minutes powerplay, but they could not cash in on the man advantage.

The second period proved to be physical, Alex Killorn, who in just his second shift after getting hit from behind by Killorn, knocks Patrick Maroon into the net, no penalty on that play. Matt Martin and Adam Pelech both got 5 minutes for fighting just 2:35 seconds later.
After more of the same in the third period, It wasn’t until the final minutes in the third where we would see another goal. It was Nikita Kucherov, with the assist from Ryan McDonagh, who pounced on the opportunity, beating Varlamov with 7.8 seconds left in the game to give Tampa Bay the 2-1 win.
