Now They Can Go Watch The Super Bowl & Relax On This Sunday.
It was a great start to the first game of the month for the Toronto Raptors on this gloomy grey day. So tell me- when a Canadian is playing against the home team which happens to also be Canadian, who do you cheer for? I personally was a little confused. As Shai Gilgeous- Alexander walks onto the court , I wanted to cheer but then that meant i’d be cheering for the opposing team. Very confusing. This is the Clipper’s second game of six game road trip but is just as important as any. The last time these two teams played Toronto won 123-99. No Kyle Lowry as he is out with a sore lower back. Let’s see who takes it. Let me give you a hint- you get a free piece of Pizza Pizza..pizza and some fries from McDonalds!
Green dropped Tobias Harris at the arc and put up the bucket then wanted to share the love and dish it out to Van Vleet for a corner trey ball giving the home team a lead of 19-11. No starters for each team were on the court after the 1st quarter buzzer.
Delon Wright fancies the paint with a spin move, getting the bucket. Although the point may not reflect what I’m about to say but Delon Wright had a great game and was probably one of the most exciting to watch. Wright finished with 14 pts, 3 reb & 3 ast and for the record..I cannot decide between lemon or lime, that’s why I chose sprite, its lemon AND lime.
Fun Fact: Lou Williams of the LA Clippers (who was a former Raptor from 2014-2015) has won 6 man of the year, 2015 & 2018. Jamal Crawford who is still active has won the award 3x and it the leader as of this article.
Leonard drills a three over Avery Bradley to come off a time out and then the very next possession drills another. Kawhi came to life in the 2nd which is a relief because last game vs the Milwaukee Bucks he only put up 16 pts disrupting his 20+ consecutive game streak. He wouldn’t do that again he starts from one he puts up 18 pts, 5 reb & 2 ast.
We can’t forget about one of this years biggest All-Star game snubs; Tobias Harris. No we are not related but we do play ball the same. Speaking of all star snubs, Pascal Siakam had a game for the books. He looked like he were hurting a little bit in the 2nd quarter but continued to play through it. Spicy P contributed 15 pts & 4 reb to the win and Harris with 13 pts & 4 reb.
Check out this substitution. We have Boucher, The Sprite Bros and Mike Scott all check in with a minute to play in the half. I like what Nick Nurse is doing. He was letting everybody get some playing time as Toronto was up 14 pts at the half.
Coming back from the break Gilgeous-Alexander was hot and would not be guarded easily. As a rookie on the squad he is showing huge leadership skills and passion as he puts up a game high 19 pts, 5 reb & 3 ast.
Fun Fact: Not so much fun as admirable, Chris Boucher were sitting waiting to sub into the game and Coach Nurse walks over and helps him up and I’m sure to tell him not to sit, and be ready to go in and then extended his hand to help Boucher up. I think that is something so special for fans and other players to see.
Beverly went straight for Ibaka’s arm to show some unsportsmanlike behaviour unless his hand eye coordination is that off..then in that case I think Beverly needs to go see an eye doctor. Ibaka stays down for a few moments then heads to the line and hits one of two.
Shortly after Beverly (this time dont think were intentional) fouls Van Vleet for his third of the game and Tobias Harris also picks up his 3rd personal before checking out with 2:20 to play in the 3rd frame. Now if I may go off track a little bit here. Whenever I see majority of players check into the game, they take their sweats off and just throw them on the ground even if the person who collects them is standing with their hands out. I don’t like this and the more and more I see it, the more and more I get upset because they are humans who also deserve respect.
Shout out goes to the Raptors North Side Crew Dancers. Incorporating some male movement in there, much like the Los Angeles Rams who have two male cheerleaders dancing in today’s Super Bowl.
OG picks up his 5th foul of the game with just under 9:00 to go. It wasn’t just him though, it were raining fouls in the 4th quarter. Thankfully for Toronto fans no one fouled out, except Montrezl Harrell of LA. Raptors’ 905 player Jordan Lloyd checks into the game with 4:10 to play and bonjour Boucher & Mr.MaCaw. These two teamed up in the 4th to give the crowd something to cheer for. I can see these two connecting in the future and putting on a show. Boucher mettre en haut 8 pts & 4 reb.
Toronto had led the whole game (well since it were 10-9) and keeps the lead until the final buzzer for a blowout. Don’t forget after this game is done, The Super Bowl is happening at 6:00pm. Even though the Clippers lost today I see one LA team winning and I don’t mean the Lakers- I’m talking about the Los Angeles Rams!
The Raptors make their way down to the the city of Brotherly Love where they will (hopefully) find Kendall Jenner sitting courtside cheering on her boyfriend Ben Simmons and the 76ers. Tip off at 8:00pm. Simmons joins fellow teammate Joel Embiid, as a reserve for the NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte. Don’t forget the All-Star draft airs February 7th at 7:00pm on TNT.
