Blue Jays (3) - Rangers (7)

Elvis Andrus collected fours hits and drove in two runs, including the go-ahead run in the fourth as the Texas Ranger defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rangers offense got to Jays’ start Sean Reid-Foley in the fourth, drawing two consecutive walks to lead off the inning. Reid Foley was pulled just one batter later.

Both runs were cashed in when Danny Santana doubled to left field and charged to Reid-Foley. Andrus drove in the Rangers’ third run of the inning one batter later on his single of the afternoon.

Each team would go onto score three more runs, but Texas’ big fourth inning was all their pitching staff would need to hold on for the victory.

Andrus went 4-for-5 with two RBI for Texas (60-60) who have pulled back to .500 after losing six of their last seven games.

Kolby Allard (1-0) earned his first win in a Texas uniform, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings.

Reid-Foley (2-3) was inefficient in Wednesday’s loss, needing 88 pitches to get through 3.1 innings. He was charged with three runs on four hits and three walks in the outing.

Danny Jansen went 2-for-4 with an RBI single for Toronto (51-73) who fell to 11-6 since rookie Bo Bichette was called up to the major league roster.

The Blue Jays would come as close as 5-3 but solo home runs from Santana in the seventh and Nomar Mazara in the eighth put the game out of reach.

Toronto will begin a new series on Friday at the Rogers Centre. Jacob Waguespack (3-1, 4.31 ERA) will take on Seattle Mariners’ starter Wade LeBlanc (6-6, 5.14 ERA)
