Seattle (7) Toronto (0) Final

Yusei Kikuchi pitched a two-hitter as the Seattle Mariners handily defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-0 on Sunday at Rogers Centre.

Tom Murphy went 2-for-4 and led Seattle (52-73) with two RBI. The visiting Mariners collected 11 hits on the afternoon and saw runs contributed by six different players at the plate, including four home-runs.

Kikuchi (5-8) pitched a complete game and struck out eight as he flirted with a flawless outing. The 28-year-old gave up a double to Brandon Drury in the third inning and a single to Randal Grichuk in the fourth, it stood as his first career shutout performance in the MLB nonetheless.

Bo Bichette failed to record a hit and saw his batting average drop to .333 since being called up to the Majors. The Blue Jays (52-75) compiled just one walk as a team in a poor showing at the plate.

Toronto struggled on the mound as well with five different pitchers being called upon. Wilmer Font (2-1) suffered the loss as he surrendered three hits and one earned run across two innings.

Kyle Seager launched a solo shot in the second inning to give the Mariners a 1-0 advantage. The visitors followed that with two more long shots in the fourth, powered by Austin Nola and Murphy to extend their lead to 4-0.

Seattle added another run in the seventh off the bat of Keon Broxton, a solo home-run against Sam Gaviglio. The Mariners went on to close out the game with two runs in the ninth inning.

The Blue Jays dropped the three-game series 2-1 and will travel to Los Angeles for a three-game matchup with the Dodgers beginning Tuesday.
