3 AHL players to play for Canada
3 AHL player were selected by Team Canada to represent their country at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Christian Thomas, Cody Goloubef and veteran Chris Kelly were named to wear the maple leaf. It will certainly be an honour for these players to represent their country. Canada is somewhat an underdog at these Olympics, since the NHL has refused to send its players. It will be fun to see what the country is made of.
The league announced 2 suspensions this week:
- Hershey Bears D Colby Williams has been suspended for 3 games for an illegal check to the head during a game on January 13th.
- Manitoba Moose F Mike Sgarbossa was suspended 2 games for an illegal cross-check against the Iowa Wild, also on January 13th.
