CCM/AHL Player Of The Week
Kalle Kossila, from the San Diego Gulls, as been named the CCM/AHL player of the week. During last week, Kossila scored 1 goal and added 6 assists in 3 games, which the Gulls all won. San Diego has now won 11 of their last 14 games. Kossila, who played for St-Cloud State University in the NCAA has now 29 points in 21 games, including 20 assists this season in the AHL.
On to the Olympics!
Team USA announced its roster for the 2018 Winter Olympics. For many reasons, the NHL decided not to send its players. For countries like the US, Canada and Sweden, it is a big blow to their aspirations of a gold medal. Team USA decided to go various ways to put the best team together, they picked players from different leagues in Europe, to players in the AHL and others playing in the NCAA. 3 players from the AHL were selected:
- John McCarthy Forward 31 Mass. San Jose
- Chris Bourque Forward 31 Mass. Hershey Bears
- Bobby Butler Forward 30 Mass. Milwaukee Admirals

AHL All-Star game to be televised
Per the AHL website, the All-Star game will be broadcasted live from the Historic Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Coliseum. The Skill competition on Jan 28 and the All-Star game will both be live on the NHL network and the NHLNetwork Twitter account. It’s an event you don’t want to miss, being a great chance to see the NHL future stars before their prime!
