NFL Week 16 Picks

No Christmas break for the NFL with multiple games Saturday and Monday and a full slate on Sunday. Here are my best bets:

San Diego -6.5 at NY Jets: For whatever reason San Diego can not beat the Chiefs!! They had a chance to take the division lead last week but laid an egg losing to KC for the 8th straight time. Take away that loss and the Chargers have been red hot since starting 0-4. Look for Philip Rivers and the Bolts to get back on track here knowing they must win their final 2 games to have any shot at the playoffs. They Jets were 16 point underdogs last week but scored late and covered the big number. Bryce Petty actually looked serviceable in that loss but the Chargers defense should keep him under raps and win by at least a touchdown. Pick Chargers

Detroit -4 at Cincinnati: I don't love laying point with the Lions on the road but the Bengals appear to have quit. Certainly looked that way the last 2 games vs Chicago and Minnesota. The Lions have plenty to play for knowing they need to win out and get some help to secure a playoff berth. Marvin Lewis will be coaching his final home game after 15 years and 0 playoff wins with the Bengals. He benched Andy Dalton last week and I am not sure you get much of an effort from the home side in this one. Pick: Lions

Denver +3 at Washington: We are riding the favorites this week and taking the Redskins. Just based on the quarterback matchup alone you have to give Washington a huge edge. Kirk Cousins has been great this year with a depleted supporting cast and is fighting for a big contract. He has been franchised in previous years and continues to look for a long term deal. Denver is coming off a nice road win in Indianapolis but they take a step up in class here and will be throwing out Brock Osweiler to the wolves. He played well in relief last week but with Washington able to prepare for this crappy quarterback things might get ugly. Pick: Redskins

Enjoy the games.
