Insane Fourth Quarter Comeback lifts Argonauts over Redblacks

Toronto Argonauts 42 - Ottawa Redblacks 41 FINAL

It was a slow start for the first-time starter McLeod Bethel-Thompson, but the 4th quarter was all that mattered to him.

Argos receiver Armanti Edwards caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Bethel-Thompson with 0:01 left on the clock to give the Argos a 1 point lead, and the win. That was one of four touchdown passes for Bethel-Thompson, all of which came in the second half.

After a dismal first half full of turnovers (four to be exact) and incomplete passes, Bethel-Thompson connected with receiver SJ Green 8 times in the second half. Green's first touchdown reception of the season was also Bethel-Thompson's first career CFL touchdown pass. He went 5 for 5 on that drive.

James Wilder Jr. didn't get that breakout run he's been looking for, but still went 73 yards on 17 carries and caught 4 passes, including a touchdown.

Head Coach Marc Trestman must have said something in that locker room during half-time. The Argonauts looked like a completely different team when they came back out onto the field.

Or maybe Kardinal Offishial was just that inspirational.

Either way, Toronto successfully nullified all the mistakes, flubs, and mishaps of the first half with a truly incredible performance in the second. It wouldn't be a surprise to see McLeod Bethel-Thompson in as starting QB for the Argos in Week 10 vs. the BC Lions.

The Argos break a three-game losing streak in this their first Eastern Conference matchup and move to 2-5 on the season.

Still lots of thinking to be done during the Bye Week. Keep an eye on the continued rehab of LB Bear Woods, who inches closer to a full recovery...

Let me know your thoughts!
