And then there was one……

Another busy few days for NJPW with 4 consecutive nights of G1 Climax action.

The key moments for me this weekend….

The Bullet Club Originals (Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa continued to wreak havoc in both blocks and they seem to just want to send a message to everyone following the events in San Francisco.

Jay White finally lost and I think fatigue may have played a part in this. White had already wrestled more minutes than anyone else coming in to his match with Minoru Suzuki.

Juice Robinson is still winless and can’t catch a break after his big victory over White in San Francisco for the IWGP United States Title. Anyone that has beaten him in the G1 Climax can lay claim to a title shot down the road and White will of course be looking to reclaim his gold as well.

Kazuchika Okada, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion has now reached 4 points after a slow start with losses to White and Bad Luck Fale.

Kenny Omega is now the only unbeaten wrestler left after two big wins over the weekend. He was the recipient of a beat down from Fale, Tonga and Loa, that led to a DQ win.

Another busy few days of action starts again on Thursday with Block B. can the winless Robinson beat the unbeaten Omega?

Current Standings

Block A

6pts - Evil, Hiroshia Tanahashi, Jay White

4pts - Michael Elgin, Togi Makabe, Kazuchika Okada, Minoru Suzuki

2pts - Bad Luck Fale, Hangman Page, Yoshi-Hashi

Block B

6pts - Kenny Omega

4pts - Kota Ibushi, Sanada, Tetsuya Naito, Tomohiro Ishii

2pts - Hirooki Goto, Zach Sabre Jr, Tama Tonga, Toru Yano

0pts - Juice Robinson

Prediction time….

Jay White to win Block A and Kota Ibushi to win Block B. White's stature continues to grow and he has already beaten Omega and Okada this year. Ibushi has been through a lot this year particulrly emotionally and what a way to round out this part of the year with a big performance in this event.

I see Ibushi winning the event overall and then going on to challenge Kenny Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight Title at Wrestle Kingdom 13.
