AHL Quick Fire

AHL/CCM Player of the Week

Garrett Sparks, goaltender for the Toronto Marlies, has been named the AHL/CCM player of the week. Sparks appeared in 4 games, winning his 3 starts registering a 1.73 goals against average and a stellar .941 save percentage. He stopped 96 shots on the 102 he received.

Sparks also collected his 6th shutout when the Marlies faced the Thunderbirds on Sunday. Sparks has been lights out this year, ranking first in the league for the goal against average and shutout, he also ranks second for the save percentage.

Plenty to remember!

Warren Foegele, forward for the Carolina Hurricanes, previously with the Charlotte Checkers, will remember his first NHL game for a very long time. On March 26 2018, in a game against the Ottawa Senators, the youngster scored his first NHL goal, collected his first assist in the NHL and was named the game’s first star!

What an accomplishment! Let’s hope that Foegele’s debut is no fluke and that the kid will produce on a regular basis for the Hurricanes’ organization.
