AHL Quick Fire

AHL/CCM Player of the Week

After stopping 72 shots of the 73 he faced, Rockford Icehogs’ goaltender, Collin Delia has been named the AHL/CCM Player of the week. He won his 2 starts, recorded his first professional shutout and was named the game’s first star on both occasion. What an eventful week for the rookie goaltender from California. A Merrimack College alumni, Delia has been on fire of late, with a 10-2-2 record in his last 14 appearances.

Home sweet home!

T.J Brennan will stay right at home for the next couple of years. The Philadelphia Flyers signed the outstanding defenceman to a multi-year extension. Brennan was named 2 times the best defenceman in the AHL, grew up in close to Philadelphia. He is the only defenceman in the league to have scored at least 10 goals in 8 seasons. The Lehigh Valley defender’s success has not translated to the NHL level, where he scored only 13 points in 53 NHL games split between Buffalo, Florida and Toronto.

Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward, Nicolas Aube-Kubel has been suspended by the AHL for 2 games for an illegal check to the head incident.

Milwaukee Admirals’ forward, Harry Zolnierczyk will miss his team’s next game.  He has been suspended by the league for a kicking incident.
